The “Innsbruck Invitational”, a spectacular Gravity Event, taking place at the heart of the Alps this August, will feature the Top Ten World Cup Teams of Downhill Mountain biking. On Saturday, 13th of August 2011, this long distance downhill will welcome international stars like Sam Hill, Ben Reid and Aaron Gwin for an epic battle. And last year’s Austrian Nationals winner Markus Pekoll is being handled as a hot local tip for the 2011 Nordkette Downhill.Pro.

The Nordkette Singletrail sits above Innsbruck’s rooftops at 1.900m above sea level. Steep, hard and long, would be the best description for the trail designed and maintained by the Tyrolean Downhill legend, Christian “Picco” Piccolruaz. This year the race trail starts directly at the Seegrube at 1850m which means that the whole 4,2 km of the grueling trail will be included, featuring roots, cliffs, banks, northshores and drops! The riders will have to overcome 1000m of non stop freeride terrain before arriving at the finish line in Hungerburg.
